Date: 8th August 2024
Location: Sarana Blind Elders Home, Ambalanthota
On 8th August 2024, the Global Humanitarian Aid Foundation (GHAF) organized a special tea time event at the Sarana Blind Elders Home in Ambalanthota, bringing comfort and joy to 28 blind elders residing at the facility. The event aimed to provide both nourishment and companionship to those who often face isolation and physical challenges.
Our dedicated team, along with volunteers, brought essential supplies to the home, including cooking equipment and provisions for a fresh meal. A professional cook, supported by two helping hands, prepared a delicious spread of freshly cooked plain hoppers, egg hoppers, cutlets, sausages, jaggery, and plantains — all served with freshly brewed tea to offer a warm and hearty experience.
The meal was served with care to the 28 blind elders, as well as the two dedicated staff members who care for them. The GHAF team ensured that the event was not just about food, but also about making meaningful connections and creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.
This initiative is part of GHAF’s ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and enhancing the lives of those in need. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the elders of the Sarana Blind Elders Home and are thankful for the volunteers, donors, and partners who made this event possible. Together, we continue to bring hope and compassion to those who need it most.
