On July 8th, 2024, a notable humanitarian event took place in the rural area of Palapotha, Beliatta, in the Hambantota District of Sri Lanka's Southern Province. This event was organized to provide essential support to 40 blind and deaf individuals who have been struggling with severe living conditions. Volunteers distributed milk powder and other crucial items to these disabled individuals, aiming to alleviate some of their daily hardships.

In addition to the efforts in Hambantota, the initiative extended its reach to other areas in Sri Lanka. A disabled family residing in Rajagiriya, Colombo District received a substantial supply of dry food items, ensuring they have the necessary sustenance for the coming days. Furthermore, food parcels were delivered to 10 impoverished individuals in the Kotte District, addressing immediate hunger and providing much-needed relief.

This compassionate effort was made possible through generous donations from the Global Humanitarian Aid Foundation (GHAF) based in Australia. The foundation’s support highlights the importance of global solidarity in addressing local challenges and improving the quality of life for those in need. Today we went to the El-Shadei Orphanage in Chiang

Today we went to the El-Shadei Orphanage in Chiang Rai Thailand with the wonderful financial help of our Director of GHAF. We provided food for several children without parents who would benefit from the purchases we made on behalf of our organisation including our director who was unable to attend in person.

We purchased and distributed staple foods and other subsistence necessities for everybody in the orphanage. We do not do this often enough in Thailand! However, when we do get up to the far north of Thailand on the outskirts of Chiang Rai and provide the children with much needed supplies for daily living, itis really well appreciated.

As you can see, the added touch for the children is the ice cream. This always goes down well and brings an amazing smile to the faces of these strong and resilient kids. We hope to see them grow, develop and flourish by finding their way into the world as smoothly as possible.

They face many challenges besides the visible poverty, which is difficult to live with as well as the nutritional challenges, and at times inadequate water supply. This year we learnt that the water levels in the well were particularly compromised and we hope we can see changes to this soon.
